The biggest secret to my productivity is in using my planner!
At the beginning of the year, there is always a strong pull towards planning, preparing and documenting our lives. Whether it is to be on top of your to-do list, to be more productive or to achieve a specific goal, using a planner can be very helpful. That is why I have been using a planner religiously, for as long as I can remember. For 2019, I choose to use the Passion Planner, which is a weekly planner. The Passion Planner has a vertical layout for each weekly spread, along with a monthly view and an end of month review.
So far I’ve been loving the planner. I especially love the additional details for a weekly focus, all of the motivational phrases/quotes and I’ve been loving the Infinite Space of Possibility found on each weekly spread. For this week’s blog post, I will be showing you a planner spread idea using Paper Mate pens.
- Washi Tape

- Paper Mate Flair Pens
- Pick your favourite washi tape and coordinate with the corresponding pen colours for your weekly spread.
- Collect momentos such as store receipts, stickers or even print some photos of the week to include in your weekly planner spread.
- Add banners and doodles to decorate your weekly spread!
Step 1: Place Washi Tape
I always like to start off planning with washi tape as I find it is a good starting point when planning out a weekly spread. For this planner spread, I decided to outline the top and down the centre-fold, with washi tape. I also added washi tape underneath the title ‘Space of Infinite Possibility’.
Step 2: Letter
My most favourite part – to letter something! The space called ‘Space of Infinite Possibility’ was really calling out to me, to do something with it. I thought it would be the perfect space to letter something motivational. On the left hand side of this weekly spread, there is a motivational phrase where I pulled the words ‘move mountains’ to letter.
I used the Paper Mate Flair pen in blue to letter the phrase and later did a shadow in yellow. To add some details, I used a stencil to add some shapes in the background. For the shapes, I used the corresponding Paper Mate Flair pen colours that were found in the washi tape design. This was done to keep the colour palette cohesive.
Step 3: Fill in Your Schedule
Fill in your schedule as much as you can. There are things that will change and most certainly you won’t be able to plan every detail of each day. When I fill out my weekly schedule, I try to keep things general and I add details that are specific to the day of the week. For this planner spread, I outlined time blocks to fill in tasks or events that I knew would occur. I used different colours to add to the overall colour palette. I used the Paper Mate Ink Joy gel pen in back to fill in the planner spread details.
Step 4: Add Other Details
Lastly, I filled in the space provided for ‘ Today’s Focus’, ‘This Week’s Focus’, ‘Personal To-Do List’ and ‘Work To-Do List’. I used the Paper Mate Ink Joy gel pen in black for this.
Your weekly planner spread is ready for the upcoming week! It always makes me feel better about the week when I can put my thoughts, plans and events in my planner. It makes me feel more prepared to conquer the week ahead. I would love to see your weekly planner creations. Tag me in your creations! I curious to see what designs, layouts and colours palettes you use.
Do you have a favourite planner? Let me know below. I don’t have a favourite planner but I have had the experience of using an Erin Condren planner, the Kate Spade planner, the Recollections planner and for 2019, the Passion Planner.
